Ginger joined the Sanctuary in March 2026 after being placed with the Beyer family in 2024 due to her spirited temperament. Prior to that, she was owned by a young girl, for whom she provided attentive care, though her strong personality proved to be somewhat intimidating for her handler.

Upon arriving with the Beyer family, Ginger quickly formed a close bond with Michael Beyer, who rode her regularly until she began experiencing frequent stumbling, making it unsafe for her to continue under saddle.

Today, Ginger enjoys a well-earned retirement at the Sanctuary, where she plays a gentle, nurturing role in overseeing new additions to the herd. She particularly looks forward to her daily supplement bucket and her favorite Honey Oat granola bars.
