About us

Our Mission

At Fossil Ranch Horse Sanctuary, our mission is to provide a compassionate, lifelong refuge for horses in need. We are dedicated to offering a safe and nurturing haven for equines facing the challenges of aging, ensuring they are cared for with the respect and attention they deserve.

With unwavering commitment, we strive to cultivate a peaceful and harmonious environment where horses can enjoy their golden years surrounded by love, dignity, and purpose. Our core values center on compassionate care, consistency, and the creation of a contented, supportive setting in which every horse can thrive and live out the remainder of its life in comfort.

The Beyer Family

The Beyer family assumed responsibility for the care of the sanctuary horses in March 2026. Chris Beyer provides dedicated, around-the-clock care, having begun his equine journey in 2009 after meeting his wife, Elizabeth. Elizabeth Beyer is a full-time high school English teacher in Show Low and has been an avid rider since the age of eleven, with a lifelong passion for horses.

Their son, Michael Beyer, age 20, is a skilled and composed rider whose calm demeanor helps put horses at ease. He is known for his strong work ethic and commitment to every task he undertakes. Carly Beyer, 14, is a natural leader with a deep passion for horses that mirrors her mother’s. She shares a special bond with her horse, Ruby, and is well known on the ranch for her adventurous “horse surfing,” skillfully moving between horses with confidence and ease.

Caden Beyer, 17, while not an avid rider, plays an important supporting role at the sanctuary. He assists by hand-walking the sanctuary horses when the family is out on trail rides and contributes significantly through his strong work ethic and willingness to take on physically demanding tasks.
